The Top Anti-Cancer Foods

I have long believed that people can transform their health with the foods they eat. I encourage patients with a wide array of conditions to examine their diets in addition to using traditional treatments and medicines. For some, adopting a healthy diet full of produce, whole grains and lean protein can improve symptoms through weight loss. For people with certain diseases, choosing foods with unique, wellness-promoting qualities can provide a major boost to their health.

For those seeking to actively prevent cancer, the foods you eat can bring big health benefits. Countless studies have been done on the effects of different diets or individual foods on the many types of cancer that can strike. Although there is certainly a lot of data out there, I have put together some information about the most beneficial nutrients for fighting cancer, as well as a list of the top anti-cancer foods.

Breast Cancer

How Food Fights Cancer

The Top Anti-Cancer Foods

The easiest way to adopt an anti-cancer diet is to eat mostly plant based foods-fill about two-thirds of your plate with them. If you're picturing salads everyday for lunch and dinner, start broadening your horizons. Fruit and vegetables are crucial, but beans, whole grains and tofu are also plant-based. So you might enjoy a tofu and veggie stir-fry over brown rice; a bean and cheese burrito in a whole wheat tortilla; or a grilled vegetable sandwich with a few thin slices of chicken breast on whole grain bread.

Everyone needs protein, so don't eliminate lean sources like chicken, fish and lowfat dairy. Seafood in particular is loaded with healthy fats that protect your heart. Simply try to eat red meat less often, or make it one flavorful component of a meal, rather than the main focus.

Researchers have also singled out certain nutrients for their anti-cancer benefits. You most likely have been hearing about antioxidants for a long time, and with good reason. These plant chemicals-many different antioxidants with different properties exist-fight inflammation in the body by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals are substances in the environment that can damage our cells and cause inflammation, a hallmark of many diseases from cancer to autoimmune disorders.

Folate, a type of B vitamin has important anti-cancer functions. People with low levels of folate seem to be more susceptible to mutation in DNA. In one study, men who consumed the recommended daily allowance of folate cut the risk for pancreatic cancer in half. Vitamin D not only builds strong bones and teeth, but slows the growth of cancerous cells. The American Association for Cancer Research reports that increased intake of vitamin D is associated with lowering breast cancer risk.

The 7 Best Cancer Fighting Foods

The foods on this list are loaded with anti-cancer benefits. Better yet, none of them are expensive, exotic or difficult to find. Load your shopping cart with them today, and you'll be protecting yourself from cancer and boosting your general health for years to come!

1) Tomatoes - Lycopene in tomatoes protects against cervical, ovarian and prostate cancers. Tomato products like sauce, paste and ketchup are even better sources due to their concentrations.

2) Berries - The vivid colors of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries come from antioxidants called anthocyanins, which fight a variety of cancers. Frozen berries are available year round-try them in smoothies or in cereal.

3) Tea - Both green and black tea contain antioxidants called catechins, which curb cancer growth.

4) Spinach - One of the most nutritious leafy greens, the lutein and vitamin E in spinach fight liver, ovarian, colon, and prostate cancers.

5) Garlic - Italians and want-to-be Italians, rejoice! Garlic fights stomach, esophageal, and breast cancers. To get the most benefits, chop just before cooking.

6) Apples - This affordable, delicious, year-round fruit has plenty of antioxidants and vitamins, but it also boasts quercetin, a plant chemical, which may lower lung cancer risk and slow the growth of prostate cancer cells.

7) Pumpkin, butternut squash and sweet potatoes - As long as it's orange, take your pick! These sweet, fiber-rich vegetables are excellent sources of beta carotene, which may protect the DNA in your cells.

What Are The Top Female Breast Enlargement Herbs?

The existence of female breast enlargement herbs has been a part of natural medicine on every continent for centuries. The herbs that even ancient healers knew would enhance and even enlarge breasts are now called 'phytoestrogens' by the scientific world. Phytoestrogens are substances in plants that have a similar effect on the body to estrogen. Because estrogen is the hormone that produces breast growth in the body, fooling the body into thinking it has more estrogen causes breasts to enlarge with new healthy breast tissue.

Although these female breast herbs take time for results to show, they can, if used correctly, cause breasts to grow over the course of a month or so. Some products that use these herbs claim that their product can cause breast growth of up to two sizes, and they also advertise that the new growth is permanent.

Breast Cancer

You can always turn to the expensive and sometimes dangerous plastic surgery implant route, but the female breast enlargement herbs that have been used for centuries can make a big difference in the bust line without the lifelong risk of implant problems or the risks of surgery themselves, which can be substantial. Most companies will tell you that these herbs don't work for everyone, but they do work for most people. And the best companies will offer you a money back guarantee, so you can try the female breast enlargement herbs at no risk. Now, if you just go to the herbal grocer in your area, they're probably not going to offer you a money back guarantee. But the companies that are charging or more for their products should.

What Are The Top Female Breast Enlargement Herbs?

The female breast enlargement herbs that have been found to be most useful are: saw palmetto, Don Quai, wild yam, dandelion root, blessed thistle, kava, and the herb from Thailand called Pueraria Mirifica, and fenugreek. Fenugreek is an interesting herb that was used for centuries by harem girls in the Middle East to produce more healthy breast tissue, thus enlarging their breasts. Taken internally, this is one of the best breast herbs.

Saw palmetto, too, has been used for centuries in North and South America. Native to the continent of America, it is now often recommended by naturopathic physicians to naturally enlarge breasts. Wild yam is another of the best female breast enlargement herbs, and it has been recommended by some not only for breast enhancement but for breast health as well. It can be used in conjunction with fenugreek for a more dramatic effect than either herb alone.

Of the other female breast enlargement herbs, Pueraria Mirifica is a very interesting and more recent addition to Western herbal health, although it has been known in Thailand for centuries. Also known in Thailand as Kwao Krua, it has only recently become commercially available in the West, since it took a while for the Thailand government to share its ancient remedy with the rest of us. Pueraria Mirifica has been shown by Thailand scientific studies to augment breast size up to 80 percent, although these results have not yet been duplicated in the United States or Europe. It has, like wild yam, been shown to help with general breast health, and some say that it helps offset a woman's chance of breast cancer.

Generally, female breast enlargement herbs create more healthy breast tissue by stimulating breast growth in much the same way that estrogen would. They are given a safety rating called "GRASE" by the FDA, meaning they are "generally regarded as safe and effective". Although the powers that be in the US do not stand behind them 100 percent because of the shortage of scientific studies on their effectiveness, most women who try them report a positive change.

Studies show that men and women alike believe larger breasts are more attractive, so it makes sense that female breast enlargement herbs would be popular. Studies also show that women have better self esteem when they feel good about their bust line, so employing these herbs can have an even more dramatic positive effect on life than just having a drawer full of new bras. Along with a bigger bust line, women get a little more to brag about.

Health Article On Cancer

The cure for cancer is still some way off but it is something that science expects to happen possibly within the next few decades; medical research continues to advance in it's war with this disease that plagues humanity. Although there are other more awful diseases, this one holds the crown at the moment because of how often it is diagnosed. The three most common cancers in men in America are prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer while the women are affected by breast cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer.

It causes more deaths per population than any other illness and the older you get the more prone you are to contracting the disease; Statistics show that the number of people cancer kills globally each year is about 13 in every one hundred.

Breast Cancer

A cure would bring a sigh of relief everywhere.

Health Article On Cancer

The reasons cancer is triggered in the body are only theories as it can be caused by many things.
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. These normal cells grow out of control and even intrude in other surrounding tissues.

Benign tumors do not normally grow larger, metastasize or threaten the body and organs like malignant (cancerous) tumors do although it is possible for a malignant tumor to have started out as benign. Cancerous cells may have been transformed by radiation or poison for example and this creates genetic abnormality in those cells which then continue to grow and divide.

Just to confuse the issue more, it is possible to inherit genes that may be pre-disposed to it as well as faulty genetic DNA replication. It would seem that certain people's genetic makeup makes them less prone to contacting the illness even if they are allowing harmful carcinogens into their bodies.

Owing to the worldwide problem of cancer, it is regularly studied throughout the world and extending our knowledge on the subject. We are always learning more about diseases and how they affect our bodies and minds. We are continually trying to find out why this disease attacks some and not others. We all want to know more about the causes of cancer what we can do to help prevent this illness from striking.

It is now believed by many that the food we eat could be responsible for many cases. Even if this is not the case, what we eat does have an effect on our overall and long term health. Some of the foodstuffs that could be causing these problems are salt, saturated fats and dairy products. A high calcium intake could possibly be responsible for cases of prostrate cancer in men.

Cancer can affect any part of the body from the bones, blood, skin or organs. The problem is that it can also be insidious and a person may have it for some time before it is diagnosed. Cures for many types have advanced in recent years and are more likely to be successful if the cancer is found in its early stages. Cancer is not the certain death sentence it once was and although many of its various forms are incurable at this time, medical science continues to improve.

Vitamin B-17 Rich Cancer Fighting Foods

Vitamin B-17 is known as an anti-cancer Vitamin and is found in many foods, but few that remain on the modern food menu. It's found in the seeds of apricots, peaches and apples and bitter almonds. These seeds are bitter to taste; making it the most likely reason why no one wants to eat them.

While most may think they are poisonous and should be avoided, they are harmless as long as eaten in moderation. For example if you eat the flesh of the fruit along with the seeds you'll be fine. If however you decide to eat a whole cup of apple seeds you could end up with cyanide poisoning.

Breast Cancer

It's really no different than with any other food. If you eat too many candies you'll end up with an upset stomach. If you eat greasy foods you'll end up with heart disease. Drinking to much alcohol can cause alcohol poisoning.

Think Pink This Spring, Again

Does pink ever go out of style? I don't think so. This perennially popular color was once again seen all over the runways, just like last spring. And for those of us who love pink, that's good news. Here are 5 new items that will make any pink-lover happy.

Wasabi Portable Color Printer
Roughly the size of a box of kitchen matches (4.8" x 2.9" x 0.9"), the Wasabi portable printer from Dell is easy to bring along just about anywhere. It prints wirelessly (or via USB) and produces 2x3 sticky-back borderless prints using a new, inkless technology called "ZINK" (which stands for "zero ink"). You have to use the special ZINK paper, which looks like regular white photo paper, but has dye crystals embedded in it that, when exposed to heat in the printer, produce an image. The Wasabi comes in pink, blue or black, and costs .

Fluorescent Pink Diana F+ Camera
When I made the switch to digital after years of shooting with film, I found myself with quite a bit of unused film in my refrigerator door, getting closer to its expiration date every day. I couldn't stand the thought of just throwing it out, and kept hoping I'd come up with a creative way to use it.

Think Pink This Spring, Again

If you got rid of your film camera when the digital craze began and now find yourself wanting to get back to basics occasionally, check out the cameras at the Lomographic Society. Inexpensive, plastic and with a huge variety of models and lenses all producing crazy creative images, the cameras offered here are just plain fun.

A new addition this spring is the hot pink Diana F+ medium format camera. If 120 film is not your thing (although I love the square negatives it produces), don't worry - you can get both a 35mm and an instant back as well. This retro-cool, plastic camera with removable lens (other lenses such as fisheye and telephoto are available) gives you gorgeous, soft focus, vignetted, saturated images that have a decidedly yesteryear look. The camera is available in many different configurations, but the basic kit, which includes the camera, an external flash, "More True Tales & Short Stories" Diana Vignettes hardcover book, color gel filters (for the flash), 12 & 16-shot format frames, shutter lock, neckstrap and lenscap, costs 5.

Sony's VAIO JS PC
This iMac look-alike comes in an elegant pale pink (as well as silver, black and bronze) and I have to say I do like the design. Other things to like, in addition to it taking up a lot less space than ordinary desktops, are: the 20.1" LCD display, 4GB of memory, the 2.50GHz, 2MB L2 cache Intel Pentium dual-core processor, the 500GB (7200RPM) SATA hard drive, and the built-in microphone and webcam (with face tracking technology). At the time of writing, it retails for 9.99

Dell's New Inspiron Desktops
I'm surprised it has taken so long for colorful desktops to show up on the market. There is no limit to the colors you can get on a laptop, but so far, it's been black or silver only for the desktops. Well, that's slowly changing, with the arrival of the VAIO above, and now Dell's new Inspiron line. They have so far only been released in China, but are scheduled to appear on the US market later this spring.

The 8 color choices include the candy colored "Promise Pink", which supports the Susan G. Komen foundation (Dell donates /sale to breast cancer research). The customizable Inspiron will be available both as a mini-tower and slim tower, and the starting price will be 9.

Pokens - Digital Business Cards
Spend a lot of time on social networking sites? Is keeping track of your IDs and other info starting to get difficult? Then check out Pokens, keychain-sized figures (with a USB connector) that can store all that info in one place for you. But not only that, by having your Poken high five another Poken, you can easily exchange your social networking profiles with friends, making it easy for them to find you quickly on Facebook, MySpace, etc. And the makers of this little gadget have thought of everything: if someone asks you to Poken with them, but you don't really want to, instead of rudely saying no, just press your Poken's palm twice, and it will go into "discreet" mode, and all they'll get is a "Ghost Card", none of your information. They cost around , and 2 of the figures are available in pink: the Geisha and the Piggy.

Breast Cancer Poems - Two Reasons Why Writing Poetry Helps Breast Cancer Patients Cope

Do you have breast cancer? Whether you've just been diagnosed or whether you've in the middle of treatments, you're probably in need for some emotional help. And writing poetry can provide that help, or at least some of it. Sure, at first glance that may seem like an absurd proposition, especially if you're not yet a writer, but you may be surprised by the benefits you'll reap if you give writing breast cancer poems a try.

There are a number of reasons why writing, especially writing poetry, can help people cope as they go through difficult times. And being diagnosed with breast cancer and going through treatments most definitely qualifies as a difficult time. Here are two of the reasons:

Breast Cancer

1) Writing helps relieve stress

Breast Cancer Poems - Two Reasons Why Writing Poetry Helps Breast Cancer Patients Cope

The first reason why writing helps someone who is going through breast cancer treatments is that the simple process of writing helps relieve stress. This has been tested in actual clinical studies, so it's not just my own anecdotal evidence that supports it.

In order to be helpful, the writing doesn't have to be particularly "good," though you may be surprised by what you're able to create once you actually take pen in hand and start writing. Or once you start hitting the keyboard of your laptop.

And while the title of this article mentions breast cancer poems, you don't have to write poetry to get the benefit. Simple journaling will work just fine. But poems do offer extra benefits.

2) Writing poetry helps express painful emotions

Whether you're doing journaling or you're going straight to poetry, you may find that experimenting with poetry is particularly helpful for expressing painful emotions. After all, a lot of poetry, is being written by anguished teenagers as they go through the pain of unrequited love. In fact, some very famous poetry, including some of the famous German poet Goethe, deals with that issue.

So poetry lends itself to pouring out emotional pain. Once you have overcome the intimidation factor that poetry must necessarily be "difficult" -- which is a myth -- you'll probably quickly discover one of its less intimidating aspects: it's short! No need to write long essays or stories. A poem can be just a few lines. You can even create haiku -- they just require 17 syllables that you can turn into focused pain relief.

Another reason poetry helps express emotions is that it lends itself to metaphors. Sure, you can use metaphors anywhere, but poems practically beg for them. So you don't have to be blunt -- unless you want to be. Instead, you can find a suitable image that expresses what you feel -- and put it in your breast cancer poem.

Breast Cancer Ribbon Tattoos - Cool Ideas For Pink Ribbon Tattoo Designs

Breast cancer ribbon tattoos make for a great way to celebrate your conquering of this disease and may have deeper meaning too - such as serving as a reminder of how vulnerable we are or to give solidarity. It may even be to honor someone who fought valiantly but lost against this terrible disease. If you're not yet decided on what to get then this article should help give you much food for thought and get you closer to the final design you want.

Pink Breast Cancer Ribbon Tattoos

Breast Cancer

The classic breast cancer symbol is the pink ribbon. It is iconic and everybody knows what it is. It is the most famous of all the cancer ribbons out there.

Breast Cancer Ribbon Tattoos - Cool Ideas For Pink Ribbon Tattoo Designs

The basic design of the tattoo ribbon is pretty simple but different artists will have a different style. It's very important to see an example of a ribbon by your artist if at all possible.

Whilst you can just get a pink ribbon on its own, it is very common these days to get something to accompany it. It could be the word "survivor" on the ribbon, the name of the deceased (and perhaps the date of birth), flowers, angel wings or something else. I have even seen large lettering in the form of a pink breast cancer ribbon.

Breast Cancer Ribbon Tattoos For Men

The most common group of men getting this type of tattoo are the husbands and boyfriends of those who have battled this disease.

Although a pink ribbon in itself might be seen as feminine, there is certainly no shame in wearing this as a tattoo. Due to universal recognition, you will only receive praise for showing off such a tattoo.

Still, they are relatively uncommon to the degree that there is no standard. I would suggest that the tattoo on its own is fine but you could supplement it with a tribal motif behind the ribbon in order to masculinise it if that is your aim.

Breast Cancer Butterfly Tattoo Designs

A variation on the pink ribbon is the butterfly tattoo. The ribbon is usually depicted as the body of the butterfly and a pair of wings and antennae are attached. This makes for a nice alternative to the regular ribbon tattoo.

Although it does not mean anything specifically, some may construe specific meaning from it such as a soul that has departed to heaven or as signifying freedom from the disease (having been given an all-clear).
